I have heard that effect in the past with a friends speech system whereby the entire menu line was spoken. Found it to be a bit annoying, but now that I understand why, it makes a bit more sense. In time one would almost be able to ignore the extra text I suppose. Take care. Steve ... If you're talking about a certain instructor from GErmany working at a certain guide dog school down south, I don't know how he didn't destroy that school before he was finally dismissed for good! His tour of duty is legend around here. There are a couple of people who continue to believe in him; but most are glad he''s no longer there. Dave got all of his dogs from that school. The first was trained by Mr. R. He says that if he had known then what he knows now, she would have been returned to the school withone one week. She was a retrain, having been returned once for behavior problems. She was four years old, and killed two cats. He did manage to work with her, and did have a couple of working years with her; but it was only because of firm discipline. She developed health problems and had to be retired. Dave and his wife had a small daughter by then; and somewhere there is a photo of Ginter with her head in Jenny's lap. The next time he returned to the school he got Codie, a very good dog; and now Goliath, the best guide partner ever. I might also make a comment here regarding abuse of dogs, as discussed in the PETA Policies thread. It had been my experience in New York that the few cases of guide dog abuse I knew about were legitimate; and the persons who complained the loudest were responsible dog users. We did have a case ehre in CAlifornia a few years ago in which an animal protection officer cited a fellow for abuse, warning taht if the school would not remove the dog, she would do so. The school, feeling its back to the wall, took the dog. There followed several months of legal proceedings. The charges were proven to be false and the dog returned; but the fellow was at least five months without him, requiring time to reestablish the routine, and perhaps the bond. All this over a valid, but misunderstood correction witnessed by an over zealous animal rights activist. I think is part of the reason why more schools are changing their policies on ownership. Even if Pompous PETAguide *could* follow most of those commands, your suggested meals would probably cause repeated incidents as Guidie leaped up and lunged at the table, knocking over the offensive poison. This would, of course, be done for your protection! Terri, the image of PETAguide curled up under my desk was quite amusing. Right now a little levity may keep us all from losing it. * OLX 2.2 * I haven't lost my mind; it's backed up on tape somewhere! --- * Origin: EveryBit BBS - (209) 651-1115 - 1:214/35.0 (1:214/35) SEEN-BY: 202/407 525 701 777 1207 270/101 280/1 396/1 3615/50 51 PATH: 10/1651 1650 270/101 396/1 3615/50 202/777 1207 SD®¯Žÿ æõ MPam DrakeSteve GomesWe're All InterchangeableÊ·Ê· `Ž²%~"13 Aug 95 17:51:00PID: OLMS 2.5 [RPEBC52A]MSGID: 1:214/35.0 331aa203TID: FastEcho 1.45 8140Hi, Steve!
