Subject: Need file descriptions 11. ***** Q: Is there a description of the programs? I would like to have some information on the files before I start transferring them. A: Yes, certainly. This approach is even recommended. There is a file called ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/INDEX.ZIP (with MS-DOS eolns) which is the annotated list of the MS-DOS files on Garbo. This index file is also available in the (more bloated) ascii format as ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/filelist/INDEX.TXT (but please rather use ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/INDEX.ZIP). It is also available in Unix compressed format ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/filelist/garboidx.gz (Unix eolns). Furthermore, there are three news files ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/pd2/news_pd2.txt ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/ts/0news_ts.txt ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/unix/ts/0news_u.txt Note that /pc/pd2/news_pd2.txt contains selected news on all /pc (MS-DOS) and /windows (Win 3.1x) directories, not just on /pc/pd2. Then there is a ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/pc/INDEXTS.ZIP. It contains detailed information on the contents of each package in the /pc/ts directory. For the Windows see ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/windows/WINDEX.ZIP and ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/win95/W95INDEX.ZIP For the annotated contents of our Unix directories see ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/unix/UINDEX.ZIP For the annotated list of garbo.uwasa.fi Sinclair QL files see ftp://garbo.uwasa.fi/ql/QLINDEX.TXT A2: Even if I like to try to help whenever I can, I cannot answer questions asking me to describe particular files, or to take a closer look what is in them on behalf of an individual user. I simply cannot afford the time. Please do not even ask. --------------------------------------------------------------------
