dë-READ ME wÒZBOXWYSEFOR‘`ZBOXWYSEGRF ÿ ============ ZBOXWYSE.GRF ============ A Graphic Character Box for the Z System programs MENU, VMENU, and VFILER on the Wyse 50 Terminal by Fred Haines Having spent a good bit of time designing and producing a simple box using the Wyse 50's graphic characters, it occurred to me that the basic file could be of use to others with the same terminal. The file ZBOXWYSE.GRF is a simple ASCII file that can be viewed with the TYPE command and reworked with most word processors that produce ASCII files in nondocument mode. You can even check it out with the V(iew) command in the SWEEP mode of NULU, though without standout mode on the commands. The odd exception is VDE, which doesn't save CTRL-B's when you save the file, making it impossible to use standout mode. ZBOXWYSE can be read into any MENU, VMENU, or VFILER file at the approrpriate location. Then use overwrite mode to type your own commands over the word "command" and fill to the CTRL-B with spaces. You can either chop the whole file down if there are more commands than you have command lines or just leave some of the keys as they are against future expansion. In MENU you get a beep if you strike a key for which you have no command line. Later versions of VMENU and VFILER give you an error message as well. I made up my own error messages for MENU and VFILER just for an added bit of flash: In MENU echo ^[=1= key not installed In VFILER echo ^[=5H key not installed The ^[ is a real ESC embedded in the file with a CTRL-P (if you are using WordStar, NewWord, or LZED). The codes are of course for cursor addressing, to place the message in a suitable area of the screen. I use the 0 command for "revise," a command which calls the word processor LZED to alter the programming file itself. lzed root:menu.mnu or lzed root:vfiler.cmd This a recursive programming trick that allows you to alter your *.mnu, *.vmn, or *.cmd file and immediately see the results of your changes when control reverts to MENU, VMENU, or VFILER. See Rick Charnes's VBOX file for some much flashier ideas - using reverse video, blinking, and the whole kit of tricks - for producing error and other messages. Fred Haines GLENDALE LITERA 818\956-6164 [now attainable through PC Pursuit] A box using the graphics characters of the Wyse 50 terminal to produce the screen block for the Z System utiltities MENU, VMENU, and VFILER. Read it into your *.MNU, *.VMN, or VFILER.CMD file and overwrite the command labels to match your command lines. Easily adapted with most word processors in nondocument mode - excepting VDE, which fails to save the CTRL-B's used to terminate standout mode.# H2H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H: M I C R O M I N T S B 1 8 O H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H3 H6 H6 H6 A command J command S command H6 H6 B command K command T command H6 H6 C command L command U command H6 H6 D command M command V command H6 H6 E command N command W command H6 H6 F command O command X command H6 H6 G command P command Y command H6 H6 H command Q command Z command H6 H6 I command R command 0 revise H6 H6 H6 H1H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H5 #:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:H:
