Markers are set with the E command. All markers are initialized to the beginning of the text. If the text printing marker has been set ('O'), it is marker 0. E - EARMARK: Sets place marker at top of current screen. Markers are 1 - 9. O - MARK: Sets a pointer to the top of the current screen. E#0 is the same as this marker. i.e. You can find it again with 'Q0' The marker is initialized to the beginning of the text. P - PRINT: Sends text from Mark to bottom of current screen to printer. ESC or ^C will abort the listing. (Of course the printer buffer must empty before printing stops.) :w r t y W - WHAT: Shows name of file being viewed. R - READ: If VIEW printed a "memory full" message, additional text may be read in. The new text replaces text currently in memory with one screen of overlap. The beginning of the text can be re-read with additional R commands. T - TYPE: Type a line to be sent to printer. (e.g. comments, labels) sends a return. Can also send ^L line feed or other control characters which the BDOS will pass. Edit the line with ^X, del, etc. Y - DELETE: Deletes the line at the top of the screen from memory. This has been useful for eliminating uninteresting stuff before printing. :a s d f g h j k l ; A: Display last screen of text. ;: Display first screen of text. S: Scroll continuously forward until any key is pressed. L: Hop back 10 lines of text. D: Move forward one line of text. K: Move back one line of text. F: Move forward one screen. J: Move back one screen. G: Find a string (up to 20 characters). The search is forward. If found, the string is contained in the top line of the screen. H: Repeat find on the same string. search is forward. If found, the string is contained in the VIEW.COM Text File Viewer Ver 3.0 VIEW, version 3.0 is a ZCPR3 tool which makes use of the TCAP data in the environment descriptor. Functions needed are CLS, cursor addressing, ereol. Optional is video standout mode. Before use, install VIEW with Z3INS. e.g. z3ins sys.env view.com Features: 1. View is small and fast. The XPT version lacks a help screen and is 1k smaller. 2. View exits with a return to CCP, no warm boot. 3. You can do all of the things needed to look through the file without moving from the home row. (page, scan, find, etc.) No need to keep a finger on the CTRL key. 4. The F command line option runs the text through a filter which masks high bits, replaces control characters with nulls (except CR, LF, and TAB), and hardens or eliminates soft hyphens. Thus, WordStar files are viewable. 5. View reads the whole file into available memory. If the file is too big, it reads what does fit, and you can get the rest with the R command. 6. You can set 10 place markers in the text. 7. You can print parts of the file with the P command. A lot of the fun of writing this program was in deciding the key layout. Still, if you want to change the commands around, you will need the source file. Make your changes at CLIST. Bugs/Features: 1. Only whole screens of text are displayed. This puts minor limitations on Mark/Print and Find. 2. If you delete lines, markers after are not reset and are inaccurate. ---- The 2.x versions require screen installation but are therefore considerably smaller and somewhat smoother in operation. If you are not adverse to installing screen oriented programs, 2.x versions are recommended. somewhat smoother in operation. If you ar
